Many (perhaps most) of the alumni of the College have supported efforts to make it coeducational. So far, these efforts have made little progress, as Deep Springs's charter specifies it as a single-sex, and it's difficult to change the founding charter of the school.
Girls have applied to Deep Springs, but their applications are not formally considered. They are, however, read and kept on file; many of these applications have been among the best Deep Springs has received. Deep Springs will not, however, become coeducational anytime soon.
