We went also to take a closer look, and came back SOLD! Unlike capt, we found the program to be really unique and very revealing about the activities, academics, and most of all students and campus culture. Parents were treated like gold, no questions or people were out of bounds, and it was really interesting talking to current DU students ad hoc. We must have stopped 25 or so in everyplace imagineable and every one was positive, most were effervescing about their experiences. We found the food to be quite good, too ample, and very diverse ... just about whatever one wanted. Staff people were delightful from admissions folks, which you'd expect to bookstore, student affairs people, cafeteria workers.
This was by far the best overnight visit we've experienced, and it ended perfectly. Our dd decided DU was THE place and we all had a Whit's Frozen Custard ... which is THE BEST ICE CREAM we've had, including Penn State Creamery and others. Granville is a Norman Rockwellish, picture perfect town with many beautiful old victorian homes and, as one of the returning alums noted (a Ph.D. student from San Fran @ U.Michigan) the main square LITERALLY had 4 of the prettiest churches you'll ever see anywhere. The athletic coaches we met are wonderful people. It was so good seeing how the Greek scene had been reeled in from previous generations. Really seemed to be unobtrusive, non-separating, and many students noted the service, leadership, and friendship components of Greek life.
We gave Denison a 99% on this examination! For our $$, they don't get much better.
