Finances

My son is a rising senior in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He is looking at Denison for English or Film Studies. From all appearances, the school looks like a strong candidate. We hope to visit before the summer is out.

With the economic down turn, I am sure that colleges are finding it more difficult to hand out merit aide. How is Denison faring? While we are not economically disadvantaged, we can not afford Denison's full tuition. The ultimate decision may come down to a LAC with merit aide v. an in-State U.

I suspect that no one can tell me, with certainty, how much aide we might get. However, it would be nice to have an idea of what to expect. My S has a 4.0 W GPA and a 2030/2400 on the SAT. His EC's revolve around theater/improv comedy. How much aide (if any) could an accepted candidate, like my son, expect?

Our experience, same as last year. No change, thankfully. And the tuition bump, altho always painful, most fair, reasonable.

OP, I honestly don't know how much merit aid to expect but Denison still does have a good endowment. My experience (and I believe WP's) is that the school will make fair offers to students.

Our D will attend Denison this fall. As parents of a prospective student this year, we got a couple of letters from the President during the economic crisis, indicating that Denison was faring reasonably well, all things considered. You can read some of the details here:
