i am also applying to:

NYU ( same as Northwestern basically)
Pitt
BU
Loyola Chicago
University of Cincinnati
Xavier University ( Cincinnati)

thanks for reading. good luck to anyone else applying.

I think your chances for DePaul, LoyolaC, Xavier, UCinn, UPitt are fine.

Which schools are your financial safety schools (the ones that you know that you can afford to attend?) Do you know how much your parents will pay each year for college?

Have you considered Loyola Maryland or St Louis U? What is your major?

I agree with mom2 on your chances at DePaul and with you in thinking re-taking the ACT is a good idea. In addition to improving your chances at admission it could help with merit aid.

I don't know much about your racial status and how it affects chances but obviously it won't hurt. Taking that out of the equation, you might save a couple hundred bucks and hours of time by skipping apps to NYU, Northwestern, BU and possibly Pitt. Even with an improved ACT and nice ECs your GPA is simply too low. IMO, it's better to shoot for schools where you'll be in the middle or in the top third because 1) it's much less stressful than being at the bottom and 2) your chances of decent merit aid are much better.

Agree with mom2 on SLU as a nice option, same with Marquette.

yeah i thought about st. louis university for a bit, but i've been to st. louis, and i didn't really like the city, didn't visit the school though. you know i didn't really consider marquette for some reason. thanks for the suggestion. i think i'll apply there. I don't really have a financial safety school....i know my mum has saved some for college, but i'm not really sure how much. that's why i really need to get into pitt.

I want to major in urban studies or sociology or political science. (depending on the school) if i go to pitt i would do their dual degree program - arts and sciences and business dual.

beastman....7 girls from my school have already been accepted into pitt, and one had a 3.37. so i think (hope) i have a shot. i already applied, so its too late to save the $45. they accepted 20 out of 30 girls who applied from my high school last year. and i'm just going to apply to the other schools just for the hell of it. you never know unless you apply.

thanks guys!
