I'm In Love w/ DePaul's Campus, Are You?

On Thursday I toured DePaul's campus. I fell in love with the campus and the city feel of the Lincoln Park campus. And don't get me started on the campus in the Loop. I had tears in my eyes as we were driving up. I already knew I would like DePaul's campus (to me, better than Notre Dame, and U of Chicago) but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE it! In addition, with my moderately high GPA and ACT scores (3.98 uw and 32 ACT), I should get a decent merit scholarship. I'm in love. Does anyone else feel strongly about DePaul?

I got accepted as a transfer. It's a safety for me.

With your scores, I would stick to U of Much if you got in. It's sorta to your advantage to do so. DePaul is private, fin aid in general is getting cruddier, and well that's how the cookie crumbles.

The Campus for me is too urban...I mean its pure city. I've always seen Loop, and I'm probably going to check out Lincoln Park in the upcoming weeks. I wouldn't hold my breath on the scholarship either. They're not too nice about fin aid.

Took son to see DePaul about a month ago. I really loved it too (and so did son!) The campus seemed very alive and cool. The buildings were nice and students very friendly. Daughter is at Notre Dame and loves it, but son wants something more urban...I think he found it. Good luck to you!

This is so cool! There has been much discussion on this board about a school "just feeling right" and I think this is a great example (assuming you are not just going on looks). What a gift to feel this way about your school. Best wishes to you~

I still love it years later

and depaul gives a **** ton of finical aid

I have no idea what that guy is talking about

I believe we give the most in chicago

You don't become one of the most diverse schools in the nation charging 30 grand to everyone

Yeah, I'm still in love with this school. I hope the academics and reputation is up to par with my accomplishments. My high school counselor is hinting that I should go somewhere more prestigious (Northwestern, Notre Dame, U of Chicago (too nerdy for me, sorry) , etc.) but I am in love with the urban feel of DePaul. My next choice, however, would be Northwestern. But how much in academics should I compromise for the "feel" of the school. Is there a school in the Midwest well known for academics with that extremely urban feel?

go with what you love, not what people want you to love.

This is just my opinion, but you should go to a school that matches your academic background. You can always live in a city once you graduate and be makin dat $$$. Living in a city while you're an undergrad isn't that fun because you can't really enjoy the fun nightlife.

very true, vap. I wasn't really thinking about it, 2.5 years of my undergrad I will be under 21. Event though a lot of DePaul students have fake IDs, I wont have ... money to use that id. lol.
