I attend UMD (college park) right now, yes very far from chicago lol. Sophomore, and ready to transfer.

. How is the social life? I am a minority, half african and half italian. Will I be able to fit in? I don't want to be an outcast.

. Sad to say that I have never visited Chicago before, but I have lived in a big city before (NYC). If you will, can you describe the scenery as far as the surrounding area goes??


.What kind of GPA do they look for as far as a transferring is concerned? I saw it on the site (2.0 GPA )... And I'm having a hard time beliving if it is that easy?

. My major is history

I am 19 years old, sophomore.

Current GPA at UMD - 2.8 ( I know it is low)

Credits - 42 credits finished ( without counting the 15 I am taking right now)

Hey! I currently attend DePaul. I transferred in last quarter. It's a really nice school. The Lincoln Park campus is very nice and in a good area. They also have a downtown campus which I will attending next year. Depending on what classes you want to take you can take them at either campus. The downtown campus is in the business area so it is usually a busy place. The social scene is going to depend. I would say that about 80% of the students either are commuters or live in an apartment off campus. But, you can still make friends because pretty much everybody is friendly and there are tons of groups you can join.

When I transferred in my gpa was 3.2. It's kinda low, but hey I still got in. Bad thing was they didn't offer any scholarships. It's still a great school though. I took a history class this quarter and it was pretty good. However, I got lazy and I probably ended up with a C lol. DePaul takes some time to get adjusted to because they are on the trimester system, not the semester system. And also they don't grade on a 100-90 = A, 80-90 = B ect... scale, you'll have grades that can be, A, A-, B+, B, B- ect...its a good and bad thing.

My advice is to atleast pull it up to a 3.0 and you should be fine.

hi, i thought i'd throw in my 2 cents here. i don't go to depaul, but i have bunches of friends who do and i live fairly close.

the social life is really great. everyone i know there is extremely friendly and warm. social events are both campus and city-based, so you can go to the keg parties all you want, or you can go out into chicago. the campus is right near a train stop, so transportation is no issue.

chicago is the best city in the world! lincoln park is really nice, too. the campus is just west of lots of stores and restaurants and just north of a residential area. and like i said, the train is right there next to the campus, and on it you can get downtown in 30 minutes easy.

I love Chicago and the universities in it. You need to raise your GPA and apply to a less competitive program.
