Rankings I'd put Gettysburg on top. Dickinson is nice but an interstate off-ramp runs through it.

We were just there for a visit and the interstate that we came off of was about 5 miles down the road.

All ramps to the interstate are at least a few miles from the campus. High Street is a main road that does run past the main gates of the campus. It needs to be crossed to some of the dorms, but drivers in Carlisle seem very respectful of students in crosswalks, and it is well lit at night.

| dickinson f&m muhlenberg can't comment on gettysburg, but...

I agree with chocolatelover, Gettysburg and Dickinson definitely belong in 1 & 2 in some order.

After visiting the schools with my daughter and seeing who from her high school has applied to and gotten into the schools in recent years, my sense is that Dickinson and Franklin and Marshall are a cut above Gettysburg. The distinctions between Dickinson and Franklin and Marshall come down to a trade-off between an international emphasis (Dickinson) and a more up-to-date campus (Franklin and Marshall). They are both very good schools, but not as good as Williams, Amherst, W&L or some of the other top LACs, which have better reputations in the employment and grad school community.
