Outfitting D's dorm room in Adams Hall

D just got her roommate and housing assignment and we are raring to go with our BBB coupons in hand. Her room is large--12 X 17--but there is only one small picture of an actual Adams dorm room on the college website. Can anyone help me out with more details about what additional storage/drawers etc can be put in the room?

Do the closets have a single rod or are there 2 rods for hangers? Is there room to put a multi-drawer heavy duty plastic "dresser" either in the closet or along a wall?

Where would the micro fridge go?

Are the beds suitable for those bed lift things that allow you to have more vertical space for under-bed storage?

Any responses would be appreciated.

I'm not sure about Adams, my daughter lived in Drayer and Armstrong. But in both of those, the beds were the kind you could "flip" and have tons of room underneath so no need for bed risers.

amethyst, thanks for the reply--do you mean literally turn the bed frame upside down? So the headboard and footboard are exactly the same height? Interesting--I hope that's the case!

Yes, the headboard and footboard were the same height. You just flip both upside down (you have to separate them from the mattress springs first) and then the bed is higher off the ground. You are supposed to return the bed to the original configuration when you move out. I don't know why they don't just leave them higher since that's how all the kids use them anyway. My D was able to put those underbeds drawers underneath. Her room in Armstrong had an actual closet, but in Morgan it was a separate "wardrobe" for each girl and no closet.

D is in Drayer, but I'm assuming they are the same type of beds. Can you still use the plastic bed risers to make the bed even higher? D wants the most storage under the bed she can get; she would loft the bed but I'm not sure that that is allowed.

I think lofting is allowed. I seem to remember some kids lofting beds when D was in Armstrong. You could just email reslife and ask. They tend to reply to questions very quickly.
As far as the risers go, I seem to remember the bed legs as being rather large and squarish. The risers we had were round on top and the bed legs didn't fit in. Maybe there are different types of risers that would work.
