2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

rizzledrizzle1rizzledrizzle1 Registered User Posts: 14 New Member
I'm making this new thread for prospective USC transfer students who want to be admitted for the Fall 2017 - Spring 2018 year! There seemed to be a lot of people talking/supporting each other on the 2016-2017 thread and I hope that we can develop a CC community as active as that one :)

Heya, I'll stick around to annoy the new batch of applicants :P I like to lurk around when I'm bored at school and stuff :P

@zettasyntax whoo! I lurked last year/this year's thread and saw how helpful you were so I'm glad! How was your first semester at USC?

Yay! I'm glad this is up so early. I just started my first class at CC last week and I'm very eager to transfer. USC is one of the schools I'm interested in applying to as a transfer. So glad that I have an opportunity to interact with other prospective applicants for the transfer process!

@rizzledrizzle1 It was a bit tougher than I was expecting, but overall, I've really enjoyed it. Some of my professors were fantastic and it really has me excited about what's in store. It was really awkward being a spring admit, but now that I'll actually be there for the fall semester, maybe I'll fit in more since I won't be as lost. I sometimes had absolutely no idea where I was going and realized I was going in a circle once :P I'm hoping for an even better semester now that I have a better idea of how difficult classes can be.

I attend an OOS CC and have a 4.0 there, but an absolutely terrible High School GPA. Not exactly sure that If I'm going to apply to USC. So happy that some one made this thread already though! :)

@LoveCollege96 USC doesn't look at HS GPA if you have 30+ units by the end of spring semester!

Great to know! I'll probably end up applying. I want to apply to 4 schools and I feel that USC would be a good reach school.

I will probably apply to USC next year (as a Junior transfer). I have a decent GPA at Brandeis, but I hate it here!

The one thing that really concerns me about USC is the cost – it's so expensive!! I have heard that transfer students do not typically receive good financial aid, so that is one thing that worries me.

I don't think USC really discriminates based on whether you're a transfer or not. I thought if anything, they would like to give transfers aid because they're there for a smaller amount of time :P

Transfers receive way less merit scholarship money than freshman admits, but can still receive aid based on need.
  • rizzledrizzle1rizzledrizzle1 Registered User Posts: 14 New Member
Ohh that makes more sense. I almost panicked a little because most of my aid will be need based so I was wondering if the calculator was more accurate for freshmen.

Hey, chiming in here. Applied last year with less than 30 and was denied. Will re-apply again this fall for 2017 admission for the 3rd time! lol This time I'll have 60 units by end of spring admission, and honestly, doing the UC TAG thing cause I'm afraid I'll get rejected for the third dam time haha. OH well, keeping hopes up for SC on the third time. Good luck for everybody this coming fall.

Hey guys! I was recently accepted for Spring 2017 as a sophomore. I had a pretty low GPA (3.4) and wasn't sure I'd get in, so I'd be happy to help if anyone wants advice or anything like that! >:D<
  • rizzledrizzle1rizzledrizzle1 Registered User Posts: 14 New Member
@awalksonman do you think you could tell us some of your stats/what do you think helped you get into USC?
  • NorCalBredNorCalBred Registered User Posts: 44 Junior Member
I just started CC this summer, I'm thinking about applying to USC as sophomore transfer, but I haven't really decided because my HS stats were not good. But my CC academic plans are organized around USC articulation agreement as well as UC TAG program. Any advices or suggestions you guys may have I would appreciate it! Glad we've already started a thread. Fight On! :)>-
