I think this is the right place - my DS was accepted into Drew! I see some posted about receiving an e-mail, but he didn't receive an "acceptance" e-mail. He was congratulated on his addmitance at the bottom of an invitation for a "Look in" (I think). So he called to ask and they confirmed it. We're still waiting for a letter via snail mail.

Roramom, Congrats to your S on his acceptance. We are still waiting. Hopefully tomorrow will bring good snail mail for us both!

Wow...now I'm getting worried. I thought that my s would have heard by now, but no luck. I was not too concerned until I saw your post, Roramom. When did your s apply? Was he in the Dec. 19 Priority round? Thanks. No e-mail acceptance for him. Guess we'll have to be patient and wait for the snail mail.

Update...last night we found an e-mail regarding an "Ambassador's Day" event at Drew. The last sentence of the e-mail, which we had not seen before, was a congratulations to my s on his aceptance to Drew, class of 2012! We're thrilled (although I'll feel better with confirmation). Appicantmum, you might want to go back to some of those e-mails and re-read them, just in case there is important info there. Thanks to Roramom for the heads up!! Best of luck to all.

Heididoe,

Thank you sooooo much. We found the acceptance in the Ambassador email also! D had already registered for an ambassador day so she didn't read the email very carefully. She is glad to be accepted but will wait for the snail mail to see if there is any money. Thanks again!

Congrats to everyone accepted!

Here's a question...How much time is passing between receipt of the email re: Ambassador Days (and, almost as an afterthought, acceptance) and receipt of the official letter? If it's a lot, it would be a good idea for someone to contact Admissions to let them know how unhelpful that email is.

Congrats, applicantmum77, the merit money was a nice gift to us too. Do you live nearby or in the northeast?
My son luckily didn't have trouble getting into any colleges, but it's almost like you didn't get accepted when they don't give you any reasonable money. If we saved enough (and we couldn't by far) 8,000 from one college might seem like a nice amount, but that barely covered room and board, at lets say Connecticut College. So, as I tell my daughters, finding a good college that has merit or other scholarships is as important or more so than just a "fit" alone.
Good luck!

Greetings!

It's great to see so much excitement about Drew on these pages. I really think that the college is doing some great things.

Thank you everyone!

Debruns, We live on Long Island. H took D to see Drew. So...what do you love about Drew? D is scheduled for an Ambassador day this month so I will take a close look at the school now that merit money is in play. I know what you mean about the merit money.

applicantmum77, you can PM with any questions, but off the top of my head, I have to say the biggest plus is the professors and the small classes. My son was and is a good student (who is a little ADD) but would have been lost in a huge lecture hall with hundreds of students, especially for most of his classes. His Intro to Psych had under 50 students and that is almost unheard of even at small schools like Wheaton (MA) You are never able to say you couldn't talk to the professor or didn't have class discussions. I think for some students that is important. Of course not every professor is great, but he's been happy with 90% of them.

It's also a pretty safe campus and walking to the center of Madison is not like walking in NYC : ) The train to NYC for some is a blessing and they have free NJ transit rides during the year.
Again, feel free to ask questions. Enjoy your visit.

Debruns,

Thank you! D is wondering if there are enough things to do on campus on the weekends or do many kids go home(High percentage of NJ kids) or to the city? She is looking for a community of scholars and wonders if the location is too close to city life to have its own sense of community. Are there speakers, theater productions, concerts on a regular basis?

How are the Freshman dorms? Are there single gender bathrooms? (This was a deal breaker at Wheaton)

She is sold on the small liberal arts experience and only applied to LAC's. Is there a shuttle bus on campus to the mall, target and other necessities for a college student?

What major is your S? Does he have any experience with the art/art history dept? Thank you for your help?

applicatnmum77, I sent you a PM with more info.
They are doing a lot of work on the dorms, especialy Tolley, the freshman dorms. They have single gender bathrooms but not by floor from what I've seen. The link to the newspaper article is:http://media.www.drewacorn.com/media...-3183726.shtml

Hey all, sorry for the long-ish absence - had a medical issue that demanded some attention. ;/

We got our snail mail letter sometime last week - well after the e-mail. We won't be able to go for the Ambassador Day - but we're going to stop in at Drew while we're back east for other auditions.

I'm hoping a conversation with the financial aid office will prove fruitful.
