Anyone accepted without an interview?

My son visited in the summer and went to the info session and tour, but interviews weren't offered. I see on the web site that interviews are "strongly recommended." Will this be a problem? He has very high stats #4/300 class rank, 2100 SATs and really liked Drew.

His stats sound like he should be just fine. However, it may be worth interviewing if he has the chance; not for an acceptance necessarily, but maybe it could help him obtain a better merit award. Also, if he hasn't applied already, I would strongly suggest using a priority application and submitting by the early action deadline (it would not only show his interest in the school, but also may help secure a larger award).

Yes, he will apply next week with a Priority Application. We're about 5 hours away and with all his obligations we won't be able to get there over the next couple of months. He would visit again after being accepted.

Also, the application doesn't have a "Why Drew" question. Do you think it would be good to use the extra space section (it says use this space if you ran out of space in another section) to talk about why he wants to attend Drew?

That can't hurt...I'm sure they would like to know why he likes it there. My son didn't interview, we did a tour and then when accepted, he stayed for a day to sit in on some classes, etc. I don't think that will hurt him.

Hi 1ofeach.

My D was in exactly the same situation when she was looking at schools. We visited Drew in the summer, but she didn't interview at that time. We also live five hours away. So she called Admissions and made arrangements to interview with the Admissions Officer who represents this area. They met in our local library and had a great talk. He was incredibly supportive through the remainder of the process. BTW she also applied Priority Application. She was admitted around Christmas. It was nice to have a couple of early accepts in her pocket.

Thanks so much everyone. Contacting admissions sounds like a great idea. My S is working on his Priority Application right now! Can't wait till this is done. He's my second and last! We're getting close.
