Fashion design at Drexel??

Hi,
My daugther's a junior in HS and interested in fashion design. It's been tough for me to evaluate schools for this as there are no published ratings, but I know Drexel is a CFDA-participating school and it has a great-sounding co-op program, so I'm intrigued.

Anyone studying fashion here? If so, I'd be grateful for a thumbnail explanation of how you chose it over the other schools.

Thanks!

Hello, my roommate is in the Fashion Design program here, as is my neighbor (and her roommate is in Fashion Merchandising). Are you still interested in hearing about the program? If so I'll ask her to hop on here and give you a short review when she has time!

My daughter is a high school senior considering Westphal College at Drexel. Her interest is some aspect of the fashion industry NOT design. Merchandising might well be the area. Would appreciate comment from your neighbor's roommate in merchandising about her view of the program. Also any info as to what sort of reputation/prestige Westphal has in the fashion industry, esp compared to other places like FIT and FIDM that are more well known on the West Coast where we are located. Thanks.

Top in the country

I'm not the previous poster's roommate but I can give a little bit of information. Drexel's fashion program is top 10 in the nation. I'm sorry too that I can't find the sources, but I remember reading it several times and my high school telling me as well. I know a lot of fashion students and they are always challenged, love their coops (I know several who coop at Michael Korrs, Nautica, Lilly Pultizer, etc) and wouldn't want to go to any other school if they had the opportunity. The part that gives these students the advantage is the coop actually, since fashion is so difficult to break into the ability to say they worked for companies like this lets them start their careers much further along then the students at other universities. And for the record, the coops aren't getting coffee for some designer. They have legitimate roles in great companies.

Hi im haley's roommate. sorry it has taken me so long to respond, i have been super busy.
Fashion Design at drexel is a great program but it is a lot of work. If you are passionate about this major you wont mind the work. I personally love fashion so the endless hours of work doesnt really bug me that much haha you must be prepared to work and be able to take criticism.

Need guidance to decide on university

Hi ,
I wanted to know which would be the best college for me for graduate fashion design program.

The options I have

1. Drexel University , Phil - 3yrs program
2, Scad + with scholarship - 2yrs program
3. Academy of Arts , San f - 3yrs program

Please help someone. I need to choose the best out of the above and proceed with admission.
