Well I can't speak for the Chem placement exam. I am majoring in Digital Media and was only required to take the Math placement exam. I was also offered to take the Honors English exam considering I was accepted into the Honors college, but English isn't my forte. The Math placement exams was, to put it simply, ridiculously easy. In high school I took up to Calculus L-1 (under the AP Calculus (AB)) and I did fairly well. The exam covered no trigonometry if I remember correctly, and there was no mention of derivatives or anything close to Calculus. I would prep mainly with basic Algebra, such as graphing and factoring. There was a lot of 'Solve for x' problems which took no time at all. I'm almost positive I got a perfect score and I didn't have a calculator handy, just two sheets of paper and a pen.
Not sure if it was just because I'm decent at math (770 in SAT Math section) but I feel like anyone who understood the basics of Algebra II would pass with flying colors.
