If you have a second to spare.

Can someone please give me suggestions on improving my schedule?

Graphic Schedule Link below:

These are the courses recommended for a biomedical engineering major intending to apply to medical school:

Chem 21L- Roy
EGR 53L- Gustafson
Math 31L- Staff, Departmental (Will other classes with Blake open up or if its filled, its filled for the second registration window?)
Writing 20- Writing in and about Medicine- Case
EGR 10- Staff, Departmental (Recommended course, should I take it?)

I based my instructor choices on ratemyprofessor and forum recommendations.

If you have any suggestions please let me know. Am I killing myself with the BME/ Pre-med path? Is it a GPA killer?

Two things. You haven't signed up for the chem lab Schedule of Courses

And you haven't signed up for the Engineering 53L lab/recitation.

I wouldn't. I mean, you can if you want to, it's just an extra class all about what you can do with engineering and you don't even really want to go into engineering, you just want to go to med school right?

If I were you, though, I'd switch out your writing 20 class with section 19 (the "many goals of science writing" one from 3:05-3-55 MWF). It's more applicable to your interests because it will help you in engineering as well as medicine. The "Writing in and About Medicine" one seems to be more of an exploration of medical sociology. I would then take the Math 31L that goes from 10:20-11:10 MWF. That way, 1) you don't have classes really early in the morning and 2) your schedule is more compact and you don't have hours in between two classes. =).

Just my two cents, though.

Well I'm considering it because the field of BME really fascinates me, but my ultimate goal has always been to become a doctor. So, I'm not even sure if taking such a heavy course load for BME is even worth it since I do just want to become a doctor. I had chosen "Writing in and About Medicine" because Professor Case was given really good reviews, but you're right the class does seem to be about medicial sociology than anything else. I'm going to try to make the math change you suggested although I am concerned with the whole prospect of not having Professor Blake because of my terrible experience with my calculus teacher in high school.

Daniel:
Yea! Isn't it so conflicting? I mean I've heard that the BME major is so tough to do and that it can really kill your GPA for Med. school but it just sounds so intriguing to be a part of that field.

RunforFun:
I tried putting in the things that you suggested and there seems to be a time conflict with everything... :/

I was also interested in the Writing classes "Toys for Boys & Cyborg Women", "Writing Sex and Gender", "Film Noir", as well as the "Many Goals of Science Writing" that you mentioned. Should I even take writing first instead of the seminar?
