Chances? Slim? Transfer?

Math 720
Crit Reading 600
Writing 640
GPA 92
WGPA 118

Lot of extra curriculars, including lots of volunteering. White male, from Northeast. Was Commended National Merit Scholar. Odds?

And, if I don't get in as a frosh, would I have better chances applying as a transfer student if I do slighly better in year 1 college

I think if your extra curriculars really are amazing and show leadership qualities, you have a shot at it! Your test scores are a low compared to the their averages, but hey, you never know. Good luck!

I agree. There are several extra factors in the admission decision that play pivotal roles (especially in my case). I will share with you that my SAT's were a 2110 (rather mediocre). I was also Commendated for PSAT's and I have a 4.0. I got in. I'm also Asian in case you were wondering. I have no doubt that my essays/recommendations were my strengths and my test scores were my Achilles Heel. Increase the test scores a bit and have everything else on your application near immaculate and you have a beastly shot a Duke.
