Computers

I plan on bringing a laptop to Duke, but I was wondering if it is common for students there to also have their own desktop PC in their dorm room. I really like mine because it is much faster and easier to use than a laptop, just not as portable.

to answer your question, very very few students have both a desktop and a laptop pc. having said that....if you really dont like a laptop and work better on the desktop then bring it .... having both wont make you look weird. nobody will care. probably the bigger issue will be that it'll take up room and make things even MORE hot for the first 2 to 6 weeks if you are in an un-air conditioned dorm.

Yeah, note that you're only given one desk and you probably wont have room for another if you're in a double. I'd say you probably don't need the desktop, but it's up to you. But no, it's not common.
