If the basic engineering requirements is still anything like it was when I was a freshmen 3 years ago (and it still is), then Pratt will assign you to take writing 20 your spring semester and you have to take a sequence of math classes starting with Math 31 (31, 32, 103, 107, 108, stats113).
Given the number of math courses you are required to take and how some of the higher ones are pre-reqs for some of the higher engineering courses and have the lower math courses as pre-reqs themselves, I wouldn't waste time taking intro classes you don't need. As it stands, if you start with math 31, you'll already need to take 6 semesters of math classes, why make it harder on yourself?
