I hope you don't end up choosing against Duke (or choose Duke, for that matter) for silly reasons like "my tour guide didn't walk backwards" or "the tour was boring." Choose based on whether or not you think you'd enjoy the atmosphere/culture at Duke and also based on whether or not Duke has the type of academic programs you're interested in. To be fair, the way Blue Devil Days laid Duke out to me last year had a HUGE impact on my decision to come here. Now I realize what a stupid reason that was. Luckily, the academic programs and the life here are everything I could ask for so it turned out great for me, but I'm realizing how easily it could have gone the other way too.

BDD definitely helps with decision making. When I visited last year, everyone seemed to be in love with Duke in a way that I didn't notice in other schools. I think Duke's strong athletic programs help with that, since a lot of the people I met had the experience of being a "Cameron Crazie" at least once!

the bus gets to the point where you don't even think about it as a pain (except of course when you're running late and it naturally makes every stop along campus drive. that is the worst).

the grass is dead in part because of the drought, and in part because we just had alumni weekend and there were giant party tents set up all over the quads for a week or so in preparation.
