Regardless of financial aid status ALL students receive FULL funding for this program. If you receive financial aid you do not have to worry about the usual expected summer earnings when you participate in this program.

If you do NOT receive financial aid you are eligible to receive FULL funding when you participate in the program.

There will be no additional cost for ANY Duke student to participate in DukeEngage. Duke covers the costs for each and every student for ONE summer or semester DukeEngage program.

This is a great opportunity for ALL Duke students. I encourage you to take a look at the locations which include locations abroad as well as locations within the United States. There are many locations so there should be something to appeal to everyone!

DukeEngage is a great program, but the group projects are pretty competitive. I applied for the program in Ghana and the professor only took 8 students out of 50 applicants. Either way, I'm sure it would have been amazing (sadly I had to turn it down because I simply need money to study abroad next semester).

If I remember correctly, I recall hearing some of the less competitive programs (e.g. some of the ones in the States) went unfilled. For prospective DukeEngagers, it may be worth applying to domestic programs if you really want a service experience and care less about where you want to go exactly.

OSUforME - Duke Financial Aid does not publicize this option - if in the summer you do DukeEngage, study abroad, summer session, or an unpaid academic or career intership you are eligible to apply for a Summer Earnings Grant Replacement.

But Westcoastmon, that assumes you are elgible for a grant in the first place, right? What if it's "just" your parents who expect you to come up with the money ( as I might...)?

Yes, Shrinkrap, the grant option is only open to those students who receive a financial aid package from Duke. However, about 40% of students enrolled at Duke receive some type of financial aid through the University.
