| I can assure you that you will NOT get credit. Duke is REALLY stingy about transfer credits and wouldn't even accept credits from Northwestern, let alone a community college. Since you don't get credit, you don't technically place out of any classes. However, many classes have prereqs that are not enforced and you can just sign up for it if you feel that you are ready. For example, I know somebody who took Bio 118 without taking (or having credit for) Bio 25. Duke doesn't care really - they're just recommendations (and usually wise recommendations). Some classes DO have enforced pre-reqs (these are designated with an "R", I believe, on ACES). In that case, you will not be able to skip intro econ. If the intro econ course is required for your major, minor, T-Reqs, etc. you will not get credit for it and need to take it. If it's not a required course and the recommended pre-reqs aren't enforced, then feel free to sign up for a more advanced course. |
