Taking a class at a Community College the summer before Freshman year

Could I take an intro Macro Econ Class at a junior college here in california after I graduate from high school but before I matriculate to Duke.

So I'm just thinkin here (I dont know if it will work out)
I get a 4 on Micro
and take this Macro
Can I get placement (not even asking for credit!) into a non intro Econ class?

If possible, is this wise?

I am pretty sure I asked at BDD (though about Calc)
and they said it would be OK if I take calc and get out of 32
but

Not sure what to think about that
I'm not sure if that was like... if you are a duke student and take a class during your time there and want credit or what...

I can assure you that you will NOT get credit. Duke is REALLY stingy about transfer credits and wouldn't even accept credits from Northwestern, let alone a community college. Since you don't get credit, you don't technically place out of any classes. However, many classes have prereqs that are not enforced and you can just sign up for it if you feel that you are ready. For example, I know somebody who took Bio 118 without taking (or having credit for) Bio 25. Duke doesn't care really - they're just recommendations (and usually wise recommendations). Some classes DO have enforced pre-reqs (these are designated with an "R", I believe, on ACES). In that case, you will not be able to skip intro econ. If the intro econ course is required for your major, minor, T-Reqs, etc. you will not get credit for it and need to take it. If it's not a required course and the recommended pre-reqs aren't enforced, then feel free to sign up for a more advanced course.

how about credits from fellow ACC schools? i heard sometime ago that Duke will accept credits within the ACC for some reason... there is a BME REU program at Clemson that i want to do next summer... they let you take one class for free as well, and i wanted to take a semester of orgo there... my friend from gatech is doing the same thing this year and getting credit...

Orgo is one class you do not want to take at a college other than Duke if you're pre-med--all the premed meetings I've been to have stressed this point whenever someone asks. It makes it appear as if you took the class at a different college in order to avoid taking it at Duke, and, whether true or not, will likely adversely affect your application to med school.

here's the thing
you need a 4/5 on micro AND macro to be able to get into the non intro class
So if you can get out of it with just a 4 on the AP... Why not place with college...

Because (personally, anyway) I've found some community college classes are easier than the AP...Seriously. And even some state schools if not honors can be easier than an AP course.
