What's with the $100? Is Duke now bribing students to read the summer reading?

I think they have an essay competition for the freshmen this year. Perhaps they are referencing the prize for that?

$100 each for top three essays..have fun.

I figure there will be like 100 submissions, from highly motivated and passionate students who either want to devote their lives to writing for the advance of humanity or have published Pulitzer prize winning novels.
