If you ED, you are pretty much in. If your RD, you have very good chances.

noobcake, I agree what danielhstennis08 said wasn't all that p.c., but you also have to recognize that the fact that he is an URM with very decent stats pushes him from possibly-in to likely-in.

borgieboy, the fact that you have an upwards trend in GPA will help you, as will good ECs. Just make sure you keep up your GPA so the upwards trend doesn't become a downwards trend, which will drastically hurt your chances.

Lastly, where is your school? I've never heard of it. Good to hear Minnesotans applying to Duke though.

not politically correct? if i said that he's an URM, would that be more politically correct?

i think my post is perfectly fine and honest... it's not my fault admissions work like that...

once again, good luck!

yeah I don't think his post was a problem.

affirmative action is huge in admissions...TC would have a smaller chance of getting in if he was white

agree with daniel, hiwei, and swimguy. I don't think I would have said it first, though. Ha!

advice: don't send those SAT II's. They're weaker than the ACT. Just use ACT w/ writing if you don't get them up. Plus...the only one with an acceptable score (at this point) is Spanish and that's not overly impressive since you're Hispanic.

Also I see that you're doing some college work. I think that's good and know it has a lot of other uses besides credit at Duke, but do know that Duke probably won't take any of it.
