question about class scheduling

I've decided I want to drop my chem21 w/lab class and choose another class. I read in the bluebook that the first drop/add period ended july 9th and that I have to wait till orientation to talk to my advisor to switch classes. However, i read on this forum that other people have been able to switch their schedules after July 9th. Anyone know if we can switch classes or not right now?

Anyways, I have tried to do so with the new ACES, but its pretty confusing and the system keeps crashing.

SHould I just wait till orientation to switch my classes?

I think it may be a rule that freshmen can't switch classes until Orientation, I'm not sure though.

Also, I don't see much good in the new ACES right now personally. Hopefully, you academic advisor will know what to do.

In my opinion, if allowed to freshmen would change their schedule every two days without reason just out of nervousness or fright of the classes they currently had. It's not a bad system to have a person get to Orientation then talk to someone before changing.
