Is it possible to get a likely letter from Duke if you're not a athlete?

yeah. its usually in the form on a merit scholarship though i believe.

About 300-400 people will get likely letters in February.
About 25% of them will be notified of merit scholarships.
The rest are invited to Duke Up Close which is a free trip to Duke in April.

Some may get invites to the "Black Student Alliance Invitational" and its Hispanic equivalent. In the past, these too, have been treated like likely letters.Not necessarily I free trip though.
