not sure, but everything i hear coming from their med school is nothing short of great! You probably wont get many replies as this isnt a very popular form on the college confidential site, as its more concentrated on undergraduate oriented programs and top schools in that area.

If you click on "Discussion Home" in the top left coner of this page, it will take you to the main page where all discussion forums are listed. You will find a "pre-med/med. sch. forum there.
The ECU school of medicine has a great rep. for family and especially rural medicine.

Md in 7 Ecu/Brody

I was an MD in 7 Candidate at ECU. I attended ECU for undergraduate and wound up graduated as Degree iin 3. I am now an M1 at American University of the Caribbean. Well I guess that says it, MD in 7 is no good, the program is a hoax, like one of those tv infomercials...it is flashy and full of lies. At no time are you ever guaranteed a spot under MD in 7 and you are not told all of the requirements prior to admission to ECU's undergraduate university. Plus the ridiculously high MCAT score (30) that you must achieve to even be considered for MD in 7 is quite laughable considering that for many years Brody has not averaged a score this high and why should an outstanding 3 year graduate have to score higher than the average for a school consisting of 50% re-applicants/rejects. About the reservation of 4 slots, it is UP to 4 slots, or in other words 0-4 slots, and yes there have been years when 0 slots have been given away...I remain on the waitlist to Brody, and the dean of the medical school will tell you that I am not MD in 7. So my advice to you people...go to Chapel Hill....it will give you a better chance to get into Brody, to get into Chapel Hill, and any other med school. Just look at the stats and look at where Brody's dean himself graduated undergrad/med school.

sorry for hearing your story. but i heard 30 is an average MCAT that someone must get to get a good shot at almost any med school? i may be wrong, but i heard 3.7 gpa and 30ish mcat is must. ppl with 35 mcat is almost guaranteed given good gpa?

The program no longer exists: East Carolina MD in 7 Program

Thank you for your interest in East Carolina University and the MD in 7 program. After careful and deliberate review, and with the support of all involved faculty and staff, the Brody School of Medicine has decided to discontinue the MD in 7 program. Students entering East Carolina University as freshmen during the fall 2009 semester will be the last group to be considered eligible for this program.

This decision does not decrease the Brody School of Medicine entering class size, nor does it reduce the chances of admission for qualified students at East Carolina University. The MD in 7 program was just one route for students to apply to medical school, and we encourage you to explore the various other options available to you.

If you have questions regarding the program or your options, please contact Karen Pearce in the Pre Professional Advising Center at (252) 328-6001 or at pearcek@ecu.edu. Much valuable information can also be found on the Brody School of Medicine Admissions web site,
