Financial Aid....To Pricey To Go?

Hello Everyone!

I've been looking at elon for a while, and see it as a perfect fit. (I am a Junior). However, there is a money problem. I come from a family of 8; a brother at Furman U. as a freshman, and myself a triplet, all in college (soon) at once. From the reasearch I've done, it seems like the average financial package is 11,000 per year, considering the price of 29,000 (Im from Ohio), I don't think I can go based on poor financial aid. I've read that it's cheap...but it doesn't seem so...is this including loans?

I'm hoping that someone can tell me how much money they recieved per year, hopefully ending my fears!

Many thanks!

It doesn't matter what someone else received or the average. Do you qualify for need based aid? If so, it goes by a calculation of your family's expected contribution. With four in college, that affects the "formula" or calculation. There are ways to calculate the expected family contribution. That is how you should proceed as far as need based aid, rather than compare with what others have received. As far as merit awards, you can find out the range of those awards from the school. It is very inaccurate to go by what another student received.

If you are an Ohio resident, I would suggest you check out Wright State University and Kent State University. Both programs should be serious contenders for you, and in-state cost at a state university should be a substantial savings for you.

Also, iif you would happen to be in the Cinci area - check out Northern Kentucky University -I don't know the details, but several southwestern Ohio counties have in-state reciprocity with NKU. Additionally - NKU is substantially cheaper than many other options, even with out-of-state tuition. The program has added some new faculty in the last few years, and has become increasingly stronger.

I've heard that Elon gives good financial aid based on the FAFSA calculation, so you should at least try!
