Need help deciding!!!

So I really love Elon and could definitely see myself going there and hopefully studying musical theater there. However I recently got into the Ithaca MT program and am waiting to hear back from Carnegie Mellon, Hartt, Emerson, etc...I haven't auditioned at Elon yet but now does it really make sense for me to? I doubt that I would go there over a school like Ithaca and it would be so much less of a hassle to not make the 10 hour drive down to NC. Plus I have my Michigan audition the next day which I'd lke to be well rested for.

Thoughts?

Congrads on Ithaca!! I know it's a long drive, but you may be suprised on how much you fall in love with Elon. I just heard about the school in July, I auditioned in October and it soon became one of my top choices. I was lucky to be accepted in December and from there decided to cancel the majority of my auditions including CCM, CMU, Syracuse, NYU ect. because I decided that I would rather go to Elon than CMU...crazy right? It just is an incredible place with an amazing environment that you might only feel if you go and experience it for yourself.

PS. I wish you could have seen Phantom...it was one of those shows that remind you why you want a career in musical theatre. It was truly inspiring.

singerbel - congrats on Ithaca! Obviously the choice is ultimately yours, but I will say this, I don't think that you will ever regret auditioning at Elon. My D, who like wowreally90, was incredibly fortunate to have been accepted there in December, probably had Elon on the bottom of her list when she started her process. Once she visited the campus, it quickly became one of her top 5 choices, and, in the end, she would have happily attended there over, for example, UMich and CCM. The faculty is extremely knowledgeable and well connected to the industry, the program is top notch, the facilities incredible, the students talented and supportive, the campus beautiful, I could go on and on.

Again, this process is very, very personal however, and if you are 100% sure that you love "everything Ithaca", then you of course you could save some time and money canceling your remaining auditions, just make sure you are not "just" caught up in the (well deserved by the way) excitement of your acceptance .

Congrat's on Ithaca! My son was most impressed with the acting we saw in a play at Ithaca.

If you've read much on the Elon threads, you will know how happy we are at Elon. One contrast between Elon and Ithaca for you is this, if you are a very trained or advanced dancer, Ithaca's dance program does not seem to be nearly as advanced as the dance offered at Elon for MT students.

Otherwise, I think both programs offer great acting and voice training.

Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for your thoughts! I will definitely be going to audition for Elon now, I don't want to have any regrets. I got to visit the campus briefly in November and could tell how amazing the campus was but now I'm looking forward to seeing it again!

Thanks!
