Schedule for th 29th

I just got my D's audition schedule for the 29th. Plan is to observe a class until 10:35; then rehearse w/accompanist at 10:45. Looks like a break until the Dance call at 12:10...and no break until after the individual auditions, which begin at 2:40.

I'd like advice from someone who has attended the audition before. Did you just bring snacks for the student? Did the parents eat something on campus? Also, did the parents or students have time for a tour; if so, was that scheduled in advance?

Thanks!

We just did this last week, but son's schedule was a little different. We did take snacks, and lots of water, for him, although he has a tendency to eat very little until the entire audition process is over. There is an information session for students and parents, but no real tour. The student union is close to the performing arts center. There you can visit the bookstore, arrange for a tour at the information desk, find course catalogues, etc. There is also a cafe where you can pick up Chik-Fil-A, a slice or pizza, sandwiches, or a cup of coffee. We found ourselves with lots of down time to check out the campus, but we were waiting around for the Phantom performance last week. But once you're done with the audition, you're done. My son was very pleased with his accompanist, too. Tyson was just great.

The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Last week about 50 kids auditioned, and probably 40 were girls.

There is a building close to the Performing Arts building - it's the building the Admissions office and the gift shop is in. It has a restaurant and an ice cream shop. You'll have time to get food there. Break a Leg!! You'll love Elon...it's gorgeous and the people are SO nice

MakTay, I am not sure what time your D's individual audition is, but things will depend upon whether she has an early or a late slot. The day of my D's audition, some people had actually time to leave and grab something to eat, but my D's audition was early in the afternoon and so we had just packed some snacks (apples, bananas and an energy bar).

While she observed the acting class, I had a chance to grab a cup of coffee at the coffee shop next door. Afterwards everyone walked back to the performing arts center where the dance auditions and the individual auditions took place. After dance, the kids changed and we all attended an info session in the recital hall.

We did not get a formal tour, but we did drive/walk around on our own, and also got to see a show (Cabaret), which allowed us the opportunity to see the theatre (very nice) and see the MT kids in action (impressive).

Enjoy your time at Elon

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I called Elon and they said there were not any tours given on the 29th, but we could get a map for a self-guided tour. So, that's what we'll do...and I'll stock up on snacks for the auditioner (although she is usually too nervous/busy to eat very much)!

MakTay -- we just got my D's schedule for the 29th audition as well. But holy cow -- her schedule is so much later than your d's! Her rehearsal with the accompanist isn't until 4:50, and then it says "Group Audition time at 5:45 . . . You will be called one at a time for your individual audition." From the sound of it, she won't likely be done until around 7:00 pm? That makes for a bit of a long STRESSSSFULLLLL wait all day! Oh well, you take what you get, right?! Did anyone else have this late of a schedule? If so, about what time did you get finished?
