Elon Care Packages??

We received a letter in the mail regarding Elon Care Packages. I feel guilty, but I don't really want to sign up for this. Do most parents at Elon subscribe to this service? The letter seems to indicate that if you don't subscribe your kid will really be left out and sad Thanks.

Haha....like your emoticon....

Care package companies are set up for all universities with the sole purpose of tugging at your heart strings....

We don't know anyone who used them; we send care packages anyway, at our own pace, the way we like to......

Btw, just so you know, Elon does not send this stuff out; it is an outside vendor who buys the freshman class list from schools all over the country...

You will also get one for a linen package; I have not heard any good things about it; just a heads up! (quality, etc....plus they won't send directly to the school so no advantage there)

LOL --- Love your Kid in your own way... This is just outside marketing...

(But I remember wondering if I should feel guilty when they hit me up several years ago).

I received these messages for both of my kids, one at Elon, one in Pennsylvania. Never ordered them, and never had a complaint from either kid that they didn't get something that other kids got.

Agree with rodney on the linens, have never heard a positive review on them. Target and BB&B will have plenty of twin-bed-extra-long sheets available.

Thank you so much for the great information! We will send our own care packages and buy our own linens. I didn't know these were sent by outside companies...interesting.

My daughter attends a school in Virginia, and the Parents Club offers care packages for the kids at finals time. I've done it twice over the four opportunies I've had and my daughter has always been excited. It's more expensive than doing your own (which I also do from time to time), but at least the profit is going to a group that's helping the students and not all to a business...

I bought them freshman year but they were full of peanuts of which my S is allergic! Linens - we sent back to vendor for full credit.
