Anyone else applying Early Decision here? What do you think your chances are?
Also, my school seems to be having an issue with Naviance not sending my electronic transcript...do you think i will be fine if it's not received by the deadline? (Which has been extended to Nov. 5th btw due to Sandy.)
My admissions councilor said i should be fine...but it's always good to get a few opinions, no? :P
Generally speaking, as long as you did your job, and submitted your application by the deadline, you will not be penalized if something you have no control over, like the transcript, arrives a few days late. But, I would check your OnTrack account and make sure Elon has the transcript this week. Call admissions if you do not see it listed on OnTrack and see if they have it. Good luck to you.
ED applicants have until November 19 to have all credentials in, as long as the application itself was received by the extended deadline of November 5th. If there is something missing close to that deadline, they will e-mail you. Good luck!
Here's a question that probably reveals my astounding (and admitted) level of ignorance about the whole ED thing: when Elon says that the ED decisions will be available at midnight on Dec. 1, does that mean the evening of Nov. 30 when it turns to Dec. 1?
The evening of November 30th. In past years, some reps would actually call accepted applicants after about 4pm on 11/30. But not all do - so don't panic if you don't get a phone call. Then you can log in at midnight.
I would guess the reps must call the applicants that they really want? Yet even as I write that, it doesn't make sense because if the kid is applying ED, he or she wants to go there and has to go there. So I wonder why the reps would call ...
I think it's just a personal choice by the rep. For example, the person who covered NJ did so last year - called accepted students in her territory. If you look at the ED thread from last year, you will see people posting that they got calls. But, not every rep does this, so don't be alarmed if you don't get a call.
Thanks, rockvillemom. My D's rep was fantastic: so nice, attentive, answered questions and was very accessible. I can't say enough good things about her. (Are in you Rockville, MD?)
Here's a question from a true novice: my D applied ED and just got her first quarter report card. She is wondering if it makes sense to email her admissions rep to ask if they need to see it. She did very well, so I think she is feeling that it would help her cause of getting into Elon ED. But I fear it might be annoying to the ad rep.
It can't hurt. D could just send a quick email that says, "just want you to know that my first quarter was great." show the grades. doesn't have to be an official report.
