Applying priority vs RD?

Hey guys I have a question about the application process. I am planning on applying priority, in which the deadline is either 11/30 or 12/1. How much of a difference exists between applying priority and applying at the final deadline. Just wanted to know if there were any facts/info to back this up. Thanks.

I assume by "priority" you mean Early Action. Early Action acceptance rate is 49%, while RD is 33%. An Elon admissions rep said that those figures are somewhat misleading because EA applicants as a group have stronger credentials than the RD applicant pool. But still, it's a pretty significant difference. And since it's non-binding, I don't see many good reasons why an applicant would apply RD rather than EA (maybe if the first semester Senior grades and/or most recent SAT score is expected to show significant improvement. but that's about all I can think of).

whaaatt I think I misread something on the site. So let me get this straight. I'm not applying ED or EA to Elon, so the next deadline is January 10th? For some reason I thought I saw something listed on the site that said a "priority" (or something a long those lines) deadline was either Nov 30 or Dec 1, and those applicants would have an earlier notification time than RD applicants. I'm pretty confused now.

That really sounds like EA to me, unless they added something new this year. And for EA the deadline was Nov. 10. Sorry, no idea about the priority thing

Hmm yeah I guess I confused Elon's deadlines with UMD's, possibly because maryland has priority admit after ED and EA. I'm also not applying ED or EA to any school so I guess that wouldn't have mattered anyway. Thanks for the help Iderochi.

Errr no wait. I'm seeing something on Elon's collegeboard site and it says:

Tests
SAT Reasoning / ACT score report due by: 01-DEC

Does this mean that I have to send them my SAT scores by Dec 1 even though I'm applying RD with the app deadline of 1/10?

If you read Elon's website carefully, it states that the last date you can TAKE the SAT is Dec. 1 2007 and the last ACT date is Dec. 8 2007. Those scores must be submitted to Elon by the January 10th deadline for RD decisions at Elon.
