I am currently a senior at Granville High School in Granville, Ohio. I visited Elon in May and since Elon has been at the top of my list. I am very interested in Elon University but am a bit worried about admission.

Current GPA: 3.47 Unweighted

SAT: CR- 520 M-600 W-570 (plan on taking the ACT in September)

Courses:
-IAP (Integrated Analysis and Physics) - basically a Pre-Calc class taught in conjunction with Physics.
-Spanish 1-3
-AP U.S History

Plan on Taking...
- AP Calc
-Chem II (plan on taking AP test)
- American Government
-Economics

Extracurriculars:
- Varsity Soccer (captain of JV as a Frosh and Soph, captain of Varsity Senior Year)
-Mentoring/Leadership for freshmen
- Student Council (organized senior citezen lunch, breakfast for school district, M.A.Y Fest- a festival for our community to help raise money for childrens hospital)
- Prom Chair
- Habitat for Humanity

Volunteer:
- relief trip to Texas to provide help for hurricane victims (junior year Spring Break)
- Granville Historical Society
- Animal Shelters in and around Granville
- Granville Book Sale (2 years)
- Athletic Event concession stands
- Helped friend organize "Shoot For The Cure" a soccer game where all proceeds go to help find a breast cancer cure.

Granville huh? Is Denison on your list or too close to home? Based upon the common data set statistics for the most recent class reported, 2008-2009, it would look like the GPA might be an issue. Over 76% of the accepted students had a GPA higher than yours and your combined SAT score of 1690 is just short of the middle 50% range of 1700-1970. I would take the SAT one more time since Elon will take your highest scores. Taking the ACT is a good idea. Do you plan on playing soccer in college? If so, you may want to talk to one of the coaches.
