Has any one recieved a letter of admission from Emerson yet? Or can any one tell me a bit about their program?

Emerson notifies all Regular Decision applicants around April 1. Nobody will have heard yet unless they applied as Early Action candidates and they heard in mid-December.

If you want to know about their program, you ought to read all the threads on this Emerson College MT forum first and then if you have specific questions, ask them.

If you apply early action and are accepted, do you have to give an answer earlier than May 1st? Thanks!

No, you are only obligated to reply to ANY college by the National Reply Date of May 1. This is true for Regular Decision and Early Action. It is only Early Decision where you have to reply right away and in fact, you are obligated to attend where you were accepted and remove all your other applications to other colleges for contention.

So, jake, you have until May 1 to reply to Emerson as well as your other schools. Emerson doesn't have binding Early Decision.

My son applied to/auditioned for Emerson's MT program. My questions are (1) do acceptance and rejection letters go out at the same time? and (2) will the letters address college/MT program status at the same time, or will he need to be accepted to each one individually (like at Pace)?

All admissions decision in the regular round at Emerson go out at the same time, around April 1. The notification will be about the college and the program in one packet.

soozievt -

Thanks for the information! I'm new to CC and just stumbled onto another thread where that question was already asked and answered (by you, I believe). Oops!!

My son auditioned at Purchase (theater) where he got a callback, and Muhlenberg. He also auditioned for (and is waiting to hear from) the MT programs at Emerson and American University. I guess he still has a few weeks' wait ahead of him. We're hoping....

Welcome to CC! Fingers crossed for your son! Getting a callback at Purchase is a nice affirmation. I know the wait is tough but in a few weeks, it will all shake out and the memories of which schools did or didn't work out will be long gone and your son will happily be attending college some place next year at this time. Keep that in mind.

Soozievt - Thanks for your kind words and encouragement. We'll keep our fingers and toes crossed (like everyone else) and hope for the best. Here's to several more weeks of waiting! May they be worth it in the end!!!

A friend of mine (a boy) just got his acceptance letter. I don't know if he applied early acceptance or not, however.

I just checked the mail and got my acceptance package. They are on their way people. For how many people is Emerson their first choice?

Yup, they are definitely on their way. I just got rejected today. Congratulations to all who receive acceptances! And keep your head-up if you don't, I know it's hard.

Contrats to Tynew!!!! My D just got waitlisted. For her, this is better than a flat out no. This is the closest she got to a bfa in MT. So it reaffirms that vocally she has come a long way. However, they won't start pulling off the list till July 1st. That would be too late, unless it was someone's #1 dream school. MusicEtc., hang in there!
