hello, I am very interested in Emory and if any current students would answer some of my questions that would be great!!

I was wondering what is the difference from ED1 and ED2? How much do your chances go up for either one?

Also what is the social scene like at Emory?

And what about Emory overall? Are you happy their or are your friends who went to other schools enjoying their experience more so than you are.

Lagaan, Oxford is tiny, more remote and very different from the Emory campus.

For Emory College:

EDI and EDII supposedly have similar acceptance rates although last year EDI applicants had a higher rate. Admissions will tell you that there is no difference at all between the 2 ED rounds.

If you visit Emory and decide its a great fit for you by all means apply ED. Keep in mind that ED is a binding contract and that you must withdraw all applications upon acceptance. In other words, no comparing aid packages.

Order the video, sign up on line, visit a local admissions reception and if you are hooked like I was, visit and sit in on a class or two.

ED II worked fine for me and I am psyched about heading to Emory in August!

What were your stats, hopeful1? I just wanted to know what an ED applicant's stats are to compare it to mine in the future and congrats! I want to go to Emory in 3 years.

I believe the most important factor in admissions is the high school transcript. I took the mst demanding program (IB) offered and was in the top 10% of my class. My SATs were nothing outstanding (2060) and I had strong ECs. Since I had already applied to other schools, I felt that I fine tuned my essay and wrote a great Why Emory Esssay.
I attended a local admissions reception, ordered the video and visited Emory. I corresponded with my admissions counselor and spoke to her during my visit. I also attended several classes and met with a prof in my area of interest.

I focused on two schools as my equal #1 choice and decided that an ED strategy was the way to go since my parents had already committed to paying for my college.

The best thing you can do is work on the academics, prepare for the SAT and visit Emory in your junior year. I am sure you will discover additional schools that meet your needs too.

Thanks hopeful1 and you are right on everything. I already visited Emory and I'm a sophomore right now. But I have to do the additional things you mentioned like attendig a class and talking to professors. My school doesn't have an IB program(I don't think) but I'm planning on take 7-8 AP's by the end of my senior year.

I would wait before until next spring prior to "demonstrating significant interest" since there will are currently two classes ahead of you. Admissions may not track as well this early on in the process.

Another Oxford question, sorry. If have alot of credits comming into oxford, like mathwise I have credits for calc I & II, and other credits too, what do you do when you've exhausted all possible course offerings. I wanna major in Comp Sci, but Oxford only has two courses, would I be able to pursue higher courses in Comp Sci and still be eligible for their 4 year bs/ms program?
