Emory's Prestige/Name Recognition

What do you guys think of Emory's prestige/name recognition?

As far as Nebraska is concerned, where I am located, few people know of Emory University. When I tell friends and teachers I am going to Emory, they are cluelesss. A school administrator even said, "Oh, Embry Riddle aeronautical school." No! not at all!! Emory in Atlanta...its not a aeronautical school!!

I admit, it makes me mad because I want prestige and I have a inferiority complex!!! I guess

lol, most of its prestige is in the south/north of the US, once you start going westward, i think thats where it fades a little...

Well, I could make a joke about how most people in California couldn't find Nebraska on a map if it was clearly labeled in bright red 4" all caps letters, but I won't. My point isn't to put down Nebraska (or Californians), but to point out that how much or little "people" know about Nebraska or Emory is mostly a matter of where they've chosen to put their attention. Last month I met two recent Emory grads who are currently in Ph.D. programs at Stanford and UC Berkeley. So apparently Stanford and UC Berkeley have heard of Emory. If you're planning on landing a coveted position behind the register at Jiffy Lube back in Nebraska, chances are good the person doing the hiring won't have heard of Emory though.
