| EMORY University class of 2012 Early Decision - Yesterday while I was going on my way to take Biology Final exam at White Hall (almost near admissions office), I saw a lot of USPS white boxes (seems like admissions decision letter) going to the EMORY USPS station at DUC.
- Emory Admissions page indicates that the decision will come out at 7:00 a.m. on the OPUS; however, according to the last year (in case of regular decision) the decision came out earlier than 7:00 a.m. and even if EMORY always says like that, it will come out eariler! The Easiest way to go to OPUS: https://psoftsa.cc.emory.edu/servlet...languageCd=ENG
- Lastly, I hope y'all get into EMORY university Welcome to Emory University Class of 2012

| I think what got me was my SATs (in the 500 range for all 3 sections).
You guys are amazing! I might join you sophomore year if I decided to transfer to Emory, but I believe everything happens for a reason and that I was meant to be somewhere else.
Anywho, I'll post my stats tomorrow. I'm going to sleep now. 'Night, and again: congratulations!!! I mean it, you guys deserve it and a bag of chips.

| ACCEPTED! Stats:- SAT: 1300/2030 (720 reading, 730 writing...580 math. :/ I took it junior year, and once I saw I hit the Emory range, quit.)
- SAT II: World History (620? 630?), Chemistry (650)
- ACT: n/a
- GPA: 3.8 on 4.0 scale, even though my transcript is jacked up.
- Rank: 20 out of 760-770ish?, but again, transcript messed up.
- Other Tests: (AMC, AP, IB) AP- 10: World History (4), 11: Chemistry (3), Statistics (3), US History (4), English Language (5)
Subjective- Essays: Common AP- Short-answer: quirky and light-hearted. Long essay: extended rant aobut how much I wanted to get into Emory. Scholar essay- Described passion for grammar and music and their relation to my hopes for a political science major.
- Teacher Recs: I didn't get to see them, although I was particularly excited about the teachers I picked.
- Counselor Rec: Again, didn't see, but my counselor is frequently putting me up for scholarships, and mentioning what a remarkable young lady I am.
It makes me feel special. - Hook: (recruited athlete, cured cancer- only major ones that actually would have made a difference, please) Well-rounded/active in school community and wanting to carry this over into college. Implied "moved in the middle of high school career and still ended up a badass?"
Personal- Location: Texas
- High School Type: Gigantic, public, awesome music program.
- Ethnicity: White
- Gender: Female (I would hope so, as my counselor keeps calling me a "young lady!"
) - Applied for Financial Aid: (just yes or no) Yes
Other- Extracurricular<-spelling corrected: 6-12: Orchestra, community youth orchestras/church ensembles on and off, Model United Nations, German Club, performed for various school functions (musicals, recruiting concerts, student award nights, etc.)
9-10: Tri-M Honor Society, Creative Writing Magnet, Literary Magazine
(Different school) 11-12: National Honor Society, UIL Academics (Current Events and Issues, Social Studies), Government Club [I can register people to vote in my county!] - Awards: Recognition at MUN conferences, different music festivals with school ensemble, solo/orchestral honors (up to state level in both), school honors, UIL team/individual, blah.
- Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?: I was so scared, I was like shaking at 11:00 [I get it an hour early in central time, yay!]...I guess I was just afraid that I was too much "myself" in my application, because I'm a little awkward and rambly. I guess just don't be afraid to show the college how much admission means to you? I can't wait to tell everyone I know, and even some people I don't know.
The campus is gorgeous, the academic environment I want...I just can't wait!
Edit: Facebook-Kristin Bielling, but include something about Emory/the forum or I'd probably reject it. D: Reposted for proper formatting. |
