I don't think I've got a shot at the major awards; I just threw in an app hoping maybe to get a small award and the non-monetary perks (e.g., priority in class selection)

In case anybody cared: Last year's semi-finalist letters were sent out Jan 16 2007. And their stats were insane. Good luck.

I know I'm not going to get it...my essays were amazing but I don't think they will compensate for a 3.7UW and a 32ACT. Oh well, I just want to get into Emory, Scholars or not!

Does anybody know how Emory would handle need grants and any scholarship money, from Scholars or elsewhere? I know some schools simply reduce your need amount, and so the need grant is just reduced by however much extra scholarships you get, effectively rendering any benefit null?
Of course, somebody who isn't receiving very much need-based grant doesn't have to worry.

On their website, it says that if you recieve financial aid, then you are required to inform them of any scholarships you recieve outside of Emory. As to reductions, it does say that if your aid ends up being over the cost of attendance, they'll adjust; however, they try to adjust self-help awards before they reduce grants. It doesn't specify whether your aid will be reduced if your outside money meets exactly or doesn't quite meet cost of attendance. Hope that helped?
