I actually went to visit Emory right after I learned that I was waitlisted.
And one of the admissions officer said 2,000 students are currently on the waitlist. I was shocked.

i9nature, i went to visit Emory soon after i was waitlisted as well. Heck of a campus.

I myself didn't ask for the number of waitlisted students, but another poster said the number was about a quarter of what you said. Whatever the case may be, its an uphill battle for sure

a) Like I said before, two admissions officers (who I talked to separately) said they wait listed less people this year than last year. I highly doubt there are 2000 people on the list, since that is far more than any other year (it's usually like 800 people on the list I believe).
b) The common data set was for the freshman class of 2007, not 2008.

Just got it, 3.5K in estimated loans. Any clue how this ends up being finalized? Is it more or less?

Congrats! I don't know how much it ends up being, but I don't see how it could be less if that's the amount they offered you! Do you think you are going to accept the offer? Don't worry, I won't hold it against you if you do! =)

Have they already read though all the waitlisted applications and decided which ones to admit or are they doing it on a rolling basis?

I'm guessing rolling.
My question: I have to take out an additional 10k per year in student loans if I want to attend Emory. Is it worth it?

Depends. Where would you be going instead?

William & Mary. So it is a lot cheaper, and I will be going there if I don't get any more aid. I am calling up Emory tomorrow to see if I can barter for some more, but I doubt it will work.

Oh, well William and Mary is an excellent school, so unless they give you more money I would say it isn't worth it.
