Deposit Money

So on April 28th, I pay my deposit of $700 (yeah it's really high) for Villanova. Then on the 29th I get a letter that says I got into Oxford (I think as a rollover from my waitlist for Emory) and it says I have to submit my deposit by May 1st. So I decided that I would pick Oxford over Villanova so I sent in the $375 deposit. However, I realized that I'm still on the waitlist for Emory. If I were to get into Emory off the waitlist and decided to go there, would I get my $375 from oxford back cuase they're kinda connected or would that go to waste too?

Well, have you cancelled the deposit fee at Villanova first? Unless I'm mistaken, you're not supposed to send deposit fee to any more than one university, because doing so really messed up the waiting list system and so on (imagine everyone paying deposit to every university, then there won't be any waiting list). Once the universities realize that you sent deposit fee to multiple places without contacting them first, they may cancel their offer of acceptance.
As for the waiting list question, my friend is considering waiting list for Cornell but paid deposit to BU. She said that she sent the deposit fee with no regret to waste the deposit fee, as it's not refundable. If you get into Emory, then just consider that deposit fee as a price to get into that university (if you get what i mean) to make yourself feel better.

hey, i know for a fact that if you get off the Emory waitlist, once you pay your deposit there, the Oxford deposit will be returned to you. Seth Miller recently informed of this.

o really? i guess that it's because emory and oxford ARE technically same university. but then seriously, you should cancel on the Villanova if you don't want the acceptance revoked.

yeah, I told Villanova I wasn't going the day after I submitted my Oxford deposit. It's not really "cancelling" cause I don't get my money back. Lol.

I think in your case, it's ok, since you received the application acceptance from Oxford so late into the year, but then do you know what happens to those who send double deposits? My friend did that, and she says it doesn't matter, but in the emory acceptance form, it says that one can't send deposit to multiple universities...:S
