HONESTLY, can I get into Emory EDI?

Hey!

I'm a senior at a large, rigorous public high school in Massachusetts. I really want to know if I have at chance at Emory for ED.

Here are the stats:

GPA (W): 4.2
Although my GPA is relatively low for Emory, I have taken 15 honors courses and 4 APs during high school.

SATs: 2080 combined (retaking shortly)
SAT II: US History 750
Math 2C 720

Extracurriculars:
School Newspaper (9th-12th)-- senior editor; numerous personal awards
Varsity Swim Team (9th-12th)
Honors Chorus (10th-12th)
Group which sings for the elderly (10th-12th)
Male A Cappela group (10th-12th); co-founder
Interfaith work in the community (10th-12th)
Lifeguard (10th-12th); day camp and local pool
Temple Youth Group (9th-12th); Vice President
Hebrew School (9th-12th); Highest award for academics and community service

I have great essays and recommendations. I'm also white and Jewish.

I'm aware that my unweighted GPA is especially low for Emory, but do you think I have a shot at ED?

Thanks!

Yes, you have a shot. As you know, your seemingly sub-par stat is the GPA. Even your GPA is respectable considering your course-load and the fact that you attend a top MA high school. Hopefully, Emory admissions officers appreciate this point. Just in case, however, you may want to ask your guidance counselor to point this out in a letter of recommendation. You should demonstrate interest in Emory, and definitely apply.

Someone last year from our school had a 4.5 GPA, 15 IB courses, 4 AP, rest Honors, in a way too rigorous program (68% drop-out rate) got rejected from Emory.

So good luck on your "although" statement.

melin...that person must've done screwed up his/her admissions essays or something because the admissions folks from Emory told me the rigor of your high school schedule is their top priority even if your grades were not perfect.

swim--->I think you have a shot according to all the info I've gathered.

oh, specifically, they said a 3.7 GPA unweighted should suffice but they have accepted C averages before.

C average is like 2.0 GPA hell no they can't accept that; it'll freakin' kill their GPA averages.
