"Why Emory" Essay Question

Hey guys,

Quick question. I wrote my "Why Emory" essay and edited it a bit but am a little concerned about one part of my paper. At times, it almost sounds like I am just bragging about certain parts of the school that I like without really relating it directly to me. Is this a bad thing? The way the prompt is worded ("Discuss some reasons why you want to attend Emory") leads me to believe that this is OK, but what do you guys think?

Thanks,
Robbie

It's hard to say in the abstract. Last year, the prompt was, "Many students decide to apply to Emory University based on our size, location, reputation, and yes, the weather. Besides these valid reasons as a possible college choice, why is Emory University a particularly good match for you?" This suggests that they may want something beyond the obvious superficialities to make the case that Emory and you are a good fit. My advice would be to adjust your essay slightly so that you are "relating it directly to [you]."

Last year, I don't think there was a stated word limit. Is it 250 words this year?

Wow, sorry bout that...the prompt that you stated is also the prompt from this year. I modified my essay to fit it. Also, ya there is a 250 word limit this year.
