penn state Vs. purdue

My son has been admitted as an international freshman in both Penn State and Purdue engineering colleges. He is oriented in aeronautical/airspace engineering but he is not 100% sure (that's why he is thinking of not accepting an offer that he also has from Embry Riddle). Between Penn State and Purdue what do you think is better in terms of studies as well as connection to the market?

PS My son comes from Europe (Greece)

    I have the same question.

For most engineering fields, I would say they're equal, but for aerospace I would say that purdue is better hands down. Purdue is just one of the best aerospace educations you can get. Also, be careful with Embry-Riddle, some rankings have it high, but there is not as much research there and in my opinion is not as great as Purdue (it is still a good school, though).

Hi there, my son is a junior at Purdue (AAE) and we are from Greece too. I will gladly give you any information you might need.

Overall Purdue is a better Engineering school than PSU is. See any Engineering ranking for example. A&E is particularly good.

Penn State is a great school and probably an underrated engineering school. That said, Purdue is better, at aerospace in particular.

I don't know about "studies" but Purdue would seem to be more popular if you were to poll folks on that. As far as connection to the market, here in the DC area, the University of Maryland (by strength of their grad program) gets a lot of hires and Penn State does also. Although, I am not a Aero Engineer, I have worked with quite a few on systems engineering projects (that had engineers of all disciplines).
