It is a huge advantage for a female to LAND a job in the oil and gas industry. Oil and gas companies are over 90% male. Therefore, they are always looking for new female employees to balance out.
However, ONCE you are hired, you are at a disadvantage. There is a lot of sexism and chauvinistic attitudes in the oil and gas industry. Oilmen generally do NOT like being told what to do by females and do NOT like being upstaged by females.
