What are the divisions of Electrical engineering?

Dudes, am just went to uiuc for initialization with a counselor about EE. At some point, he asked me which field in EE i want to focus on. i didn't reply, he said i will know later on, now am here to know what different fields or divisions are in EE? How do the courses differ? Whatever school u are from, not just uiuc

Might be different for other people, but I will take a stab at it:

- Power systems
- Communications
- Electronics
- Computer and Software
- Control Systems (SCADA and instrumentations)
- Electrophysiology

I dont know if i have named all of them but that is what is on my mind right now

At UIUC:

Courses - ECE ILLINOIS | University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Research - ECE ILLINOIS | University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

You get different lists depending on where you look, but this is a good idea of what you can do:

Biomedical Imaging, Bioengineering, and Acoustics
Communications
Computer Engineering
Control Systems
Electromagnetics, Optics, and Remote Sensing
Integrated Circuits and Systems
Microelectronics and Photonics
Networking and Distributed Computing
Power and Energy Systems
Reliable and Secure Systems
Robotics, Vision, and Artificial Intelligence
Signal Processing

I am currently a UIUC grad student in the Remote Sensing area, let me know if you have any other questions.
