Operations Management or Supply Chain Management for Accounting major

Hello everybody,

I recently find Operations Management or Supply Chain Management (OM or SCM) very interesting. Unfortunately, I am a junior in Accounting and it is very difficult for me to change my major to Industrial Engineering.

1. I am planning to finish my Accounting degree and get the MBA specializing in OM or SCM. What is the differences between OM or SCM in MBA and M.S Industrial Engineering?

2. How does my experience in corporate accounting or public accounting help me to break into the OM or SCM field?

I will do my own research, however, please share with me your opinions about my questions as well as your understand about the OM or SCM.

Both OM and SCM may be taught in the College of Business if they have a Business Information Systems or similar degree. You should confirm whether or not your school offers these courses. It might be best to post this question in the Business degree area. Public Accounting is always useful but working in that area may require a 5 year accounting degree so it might be better just to transition more quickly to SCM.

My school does not have the degree in OM or SCM, but I know that University of Florida have the MBA in Supply Chain Management. I probably cannot change my major to Industrial Engineering now, so I would like to find out the difference between MS Industrial Engineering in OM/SCM and MBA in SCM.
