Is it possible/a good idea to change my major to engineering?

I plan on attending NAU in Arizona next Fall, and originally I had wanted my major to be international affairs. However, after I got my acceptance and the more I thought of it, the more I realized that I want to do something more science-related.

I'd like to change it to mechanical engineering, but I'm not sure how or if it's even possible. I haven't accepted my offer yet so I'd assume it's still possible, but how?

Any help or input would be great. Thanks! : )

You can easily swap majors if you're accepted, especially before you even register for classes. Just make sure the school has that major.

Ask NAU about changing majors. Were you accepted to the University, or a particular college of the University?

Also, it is not too late to apply to other schools.

Not necessarily, if the destination major is at full capacity. In this case, the school may require the student to apply to change major, with a competitive admission process depending largely on college grades in the prerequisite courses for the destination major.

This type of thing varies from school to school, so checking with the school would be the thing to do here.

definitely check with the school, also for engineering they probably only accept so many students per year. so its better to check sooner than later. if they don't let you into the engineering faculty, see if you can take general studies in your first year. this means that you are in no faculty but are taking the 1st year engineering courses. this way you can continue with school and then next year apply to the engineering faculty and hopefully get in. Make sure you confirm with the school that they will allow you to do this. also think of applying to several schools. I applied to 6 schools and got into 2. so it shows that its competitive.
