| Two Words: 'Drug Test' Some people look really smart until the interviewer says, "Your package looks great. We'd like to bring you on board. Can you report on Thursday for our mandatory drug test?"
Then they don't look so smart. |

| Personally, I would decline employment with any corporation requiring mandatory drug tests. I'm sorry, I just have more respect for myself than that. |

| I think it's more that you are surprised that an intelligent person smokes, so it has more of an impact. |

| This is very true, not only for marijuana but for most mind altering chemicals. The harder the drug, the smarter you will become. It has been experimentally verified and published in journals such as Nature and most recently, Science and the New England Journal of Medicine. I recommend smoking a bowl of hydroponic weed, followed by snorting an eight ball of cocaine. Drink a liter of Moonshine, then chase it by sniffing heavy duty paint thinner for at least half an hour. Remember to inhale deeply and keep the fumes in your lungs for as long as possible, then proceed to exhale slowly. Additionally, find a nice clean needle and syringe and inject a few milliliters of pure heroine into your blood stream. Follow this by popping a few pills of ecstacy, then crushing some Xanax into fine powder than snorting it. Finally if you want to be extra, super duper smart you have to drink at least a cup of industrial strength pet urine stain remover. The strongest you can find, none of that cheap crap. What will follow after all of this is guaranteed accolades such as the Field's Medal and/or Nobel Prize. You will also become the president of the United States, and the vice president of the United States. Which one you ask?? the answer is, you will be so great, that you will be both. |

| "Why are all the smartest students the biggest potheads?"
Actually, this might not be a serious question, but I actually noticed this when I was in pharmacy school. Many (not all) of the smartest kids were potheads (and worse). Here the reason: all potheads and party-ers with average intelligence have already flunked out. Thus, the only drug and alcohol users who are left are smart. Intelligence and drug use is a spurious relationship. |

| Drug use is way to big a category. I doubt you're going to find many people doing crystal meth or crack that do well in college, but psychadelic use is a different story. I've known many people in undergrad and grad programs at top schools who use once or twice a week and do just fine - but once or twice isn't really the same thing as a pothead. Then again, I know people that don't use and do well too. So I'm with lkf725 on this - there's no real relationship between drug use and academic performance if you're intelligent.
Unless you count World of Warcraft as a drug. That, I've seen wreck lives. |

| It's kind of ironic that pharmacy students would be drug users. Shouldn't they be more attuned than most to the effects of usage? Then again, weed isn't really considered a drug to many people. |

| Weed is a minor hallucinogen. It's still a drug. |
