Rank some schools for an average joe.

So everyone in this forum is probably used to picking between MIT and Stanford and watnot. But how bout come down a tier, or two, and rank my schools for me. I want to go into Chem E.

Clemson, Ohio state, Virginia Tech, wisconsin-madison, Rose-hulman, auburn.

So if you were me, and you are in love with VTech and also with Clemson. And want to get out of Ohio, but ohio state is offering u scholarships/honors college plus instate tuition, what do u do? I feel like wisconsin and Rose are too expensive to possibly be worth the education, even if its slightly better. So tell me what you would do, if you werent going to MIT or stanford (im jealous btw )

I would go for Wincosin-madison. Its rank must be than all others u listed above. Other I would consider is Ohio with scholarship and honors program. Let see how much u can get ( I think instate students tuition is low so scholarship not that much). Also, I think u can do honors program at anywhere if u have a strong academic.

Really, those schools all seem pretty solid. I would decide based on cost and locality. Most likely where you go to school is where you get a job.

Thats what i'm thinking. OSU is dirt cheap for me, like probably less than what i paid for my private school, but i dont like the campus, and i hate the city. VTech, Clemson, and auburn are all the kind of schools i like, southern, rural, laid back, and football powerhouses (not that OSU isnt).

So if it came down between those three, VT, CU, and AU, (assuming they were all the same cost) what would you guys choose?

I would think that VT has a substantially better national reputation. It probably would give you the most flexibility.

UW-Madison definitely tops all those schools in chemistry. In fact, and its department is not average, but one of the best (I think its ranked 5th for for both under and grad school above Stanford and Princeton and used to rank among top 3). I don't know about the specifics, but I'm pretty sure this department is well funded with very reputable professors. Plus UW is a tier one as far as I know.

Among VT, CU, and AU... I would choose VT and re-quote what MrPayne said.
