| Definitely UIUC EE unless you're getting in-state tuition for UCSD. |

| While US News Rankings dont mean too much, UIUC is ranked #4 and UCSD is ranked #14 for electrical. And for overall engineering, UIUC is ranked #5 and UCSD is ranked #25.
I think overall UIUC has more prestige as an engineering school anyway, but UCSD is a good school too, so its really not that big of a deal. |

| They're in dramatically different settings... might want to consider whether you prefer cornfields or beaches, too. Both have good engineering schools and would provide you with good opportunities and a good education. Find a place you'd feel comfortable living in for four years. |

| It's *ranked*. It has *prestige*. It's not the best place for everyone, though. |

| I would NOT choose UCSD simply because I've visited it and don't like the environment at all (I live in CA), but if you've seen/heard enough about both campuses, it doesn't really make that much of a difference. UCSD is catching up really fast in engineering, and it's on its way to become one of the top in the nation. |
