Is a 3.3 gpa in mechanical engineering (through 3rd year) from University Michigan average or much better? I heard the average GPA was 2.7.

im pretty sure it's way above 2.7.

although ppl like to think eng average is lower than 3.0 at their places, im pretty sure it's above 3.0 at most places...

Information source that average GPA is 2.7 or above 2.7? Looks like it's just plenty of speculation from all sides.

Is there a way to find out the average GPA of engineering majors at a school? i am not referring to specific majors (mechanical engineering, accounting, etc) but general (engineering, business). The specific info would be nice, but I am curious about that info in general.

i recall on CC that jeffl indicated the average mech engr gpa was 2.7..he attended the mech engineering college at the time he made that statement. How do you think a recruiter would see a 3.3 from univ moich, mech engineering?

Look for "grade distribution" on the school's website... they usually have the entire grade distribution for each class, major, and departments.

Engineering ~3.0 GPA. Sciences ~3.0 GPA. Music ~ 3.7 GPA.
